Mr. Mike's Neighborhood

Sun Communities and Park Management because of their rules, policies and the culture they incorporated into Lafayette Place Mobile Home Park.

The philosophy behind Mr. Mike’s Neighborhood is simple; to provide the services to our Neighbors that Sun Communities and Park Management wouldn’t provide, to make our Neighbors feel like they weren’t merely looked at as just renters, but as valuable assets to our Community, to let our Neighbors know that even if they didn’t have anyone in their lives, that they had one person within the Community they could rely on, and finally, to create a Neighborhood experience that would make them feel like this was their HOME whether they were here for a year or a lifetime.  I wanted to help their children increase their reading proficiency, so I built a Free Children's Library, and to provide food to those families who needed it, I built a Free Food Pantry.  I tried to feel comfortable with the idea that if I help even one, that was good.  For me it wasn’t.  I wanted to help 101.

Mike Whitty has been a resident of Lafayette Place Mobile Home Park for over 14 years.  At 76 years old, he retired as President of Michael Learning Group, a sales, management and internet training company, where he served as its head for over 30 years.  He is the author of dozens of industry books and audios, and specialized in large group seminar training.  He has been the Director of Mr. Mike's Neighborhood for over 2 years.
